I've eaten my way across the country and especially through the South, and have been to so many of the celebrated BBQ joints. Needless to say, I was dubious of a ribs place in a grocery store parking lot in Portland. But man, my mistake. SO solid. The ribs, the brisket, the slaw, the greens, the potato salad, the cornbread... made by the nicest folks, playing great music. Well worth the 30 minute wait! Put this on your to do list.

Food is good but they are OVERPRICED and give out the smallest side dishes known too man!! The Owner needs to fix this and consider bigger sides and better prices! But again the Food is good!

Still working on my first meal from them, the rib tips dinner. The quality of the meat is the highest possible. Well smoked, with a delicious spicy red BBQ sauce. Corn bread and red beans and rice were both very good. The cole slaw was the one thing that seemed like maybe it wasn't made in house, but how many things can you really expect to excell at? The quantity of food was very generous for the price. I'm a big guy, I was sooo hungry, and I am not going to be able to finish this in one sitting. I can't overstate how happy they made me, not how much I recommend their food!

Cannon’s Rib Express has been around long enough to just be a complete staple in the Portland bbq scene. Without much pretense or bells and whistles, this little bbq shack produces really solid food with a nearly perfect menu. I highly recommend checking them out.

Service was fast and friendly. Food was very good and priced properly according to the proportions definitely did not go away hungry. Have the pulled pork sandwich with a side only $7

Food is soso not alot of flavor

Don't judge a book by its cover. This little shack may not look like much, but it's some of the best barbecue I've had. A little pricey but worth it.

The service was outstanding and the food was great. Personally I loved their Cole slaw, but their mac was on the peppery side but still it was good. Great people, great place.

Love this place! It's great BBQ, and I make sure to stop here every time I'm in town. Their pork ribs are to die for, and there's something so wonderful about sopping up the extra sauce with a couple pieces of white bread. Definitely worth a visit.

Outstanding pork ribs! Everyone seems to love the brisket but I'm stuck on the pork ribs. Everytime I smoke pork ribs this is exactly how I hope that they turn out but I only get it right about half the time. Cannons really put out a delicious meal and the collard greens with the red beans and rice as sides cannot be beat.

My wife and I tried several dishes and all were excellent. Moist and finger lickin good. The staff was friendly--neighborly if you will. Will definitely visit this location the next time I'm in Portland.

Amazing food! My group of friends stopped by this place after hearing good things. I was not disappointed! I had the spicy brisket sandwich and the meat was so delicious!

Cannon's straddles the gap between a food cart and a restaurant. It's a permanent structure with outdoor-only covered seating. The food is barbecuecwith the usual sides very well executed. We have been going there for years and have never bern disappointed

Amazing, and consistent tasting BBQ. Pretty straight forward good ol' food. Pretty great to go to a place that isnt trying to be "hip".

Alas, this location is gone now. They were /are reopening in a new location soon. I hope to have some of that brisket again!!!

I've been a fan of this place for at least 15 years....one of the best bbq spots in Portland.

Tender pork ribs and brisket. Sides are varied. Enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Owner was present, shared hadn't been there for awhile and this was top notch this time. He wants the best for his customers. Glad we returned.

I have been coming to Cannon's for many years now and it never fails to satisfy. I say when they ask you if you want white bread or corn muffin to soak up sauce always go with the white bread for some reason a corn muffin just doesn't do the same thing even though it's superior bread. Just saying.

Very friendly service & great BBQ sauce. The 'chopped pork' (pulled pork) was good, a little too salty for my taste. As for the sides, the beans were very good as well as the greens. Seems a little pricey for the portions, but I will be back :)

Nothing special. Brisket was passable, but drenched in sauce. Sides - beans, potato salad, and corn muffin - all taste store bought, especially the potato salad.If you have children with you, a warning: on the exterior there is an outlet without a cover plate, so small fingers can easily touch inside.

Cannon's has some great fare. I particularly like their chopped pork/chicken sandwich, with a side for $7 or $8, plus they host live, local music when the weather doesn't suck, which is something worth checking out. People are particular about their BBQ so of course reviews can be particular. I think Cannons does a great job and even if sometimes the price is high or there's a subtle miss on the quality of something you remember differently, they do a great job and I recommend the food to everyone I know looking for authentic BBQ.

Food was good. Just really spending for basically no food. Thought it’d be home made potato salad and macaroni salad... but it’s not. It’s just like the Resers macaroni salad/potato salad. Price and food don’t match. the money weighs more than the amount of “sides” you get.

Pork ribs blew me away! Great sauce and tenderness. The staff was welcoming and helpful, they really won me over when they offered a slice of watermelon everybody at the tables. Hand washing station was a needed and awesome plus.

I love this place my husband and I have been eating here for years one of the few places to get really bbq!!

This place is the real deal. Great food, hard to find quality, price is right, great people. Before I went, I was a little weirded out with it being in a New Seasons parking lot. I was wrong. The dining area is quite lovely and feels like a relaxing oasis far removed from any parking lot. Go now. Run!

Purchased the "beef ribs dinner". The sauce was good. The side of greens were delicious. Unfortunately, the meat itself was TERRIBLE. Incredibly stringy and I couldn't get it to come off of the bone at all. Really disappointed.

Best barbecue this side of the Mississippi hands down

First and foremost, very nice people. Great service. Everything is homemade and authentic. The ribs fall of the bones and the sides are wonderful. Dessert too! Yummm. Great vibes and the jazz music sets it off.

I really want to like this place but it's so generic. What you get here for $15 vs what you get for $20 at Matt's BBQ are so far apart. I tried to order beef ribs and they told me they weren't good enough to serve. I appreciate the honesty but will be going to Matt's or People's Pig next time.

Got the brisket sandwich and it was well worth the wait. That meat just melted in my mouth and the sauce was so good. It's rare that I have a sandwich that I have to eat with a fork, but this was the classic image of good messy barbecue. I regret not coming here sooner because the food was just as good as it smelled. Also got a piece of sweet potato cake that was so perfectly moist and had such a perfect light flavor. Definitely recommend and I can't wait to come eat more.

Best BBQ this side of Alabama! We make special trips over here just to get the sauce!

I don't eat ribs anymore but when I did I always went to Cannon's ribs but they smelled so good and my friend love them .

It was an awesome surprise to be able to get ribs next to the supermarket. I got takeout on Sunday at ~ 2:30. There was no line, and I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I got the Pork Ribs dinner with Medium spicy sauce, Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans and Corn Bread. I'm giving it 5 stars. All of the items I got were really solid, and the combination of everything together + the unassuming, casual location make this place fantastic. People behind the counter were really nice and it had that family run feel. Will be going back probably for take-out for dinner when grabbing groceries.

Family owned BBQ that's simple but the BEST!! GREAT ribs but possibly the best brisket I've ever had! Go and be belly happy

BBQ is reheated and more than likely a day or two ago made. Side dishes come from Cash and Carry and are small portion sized. For the price the quality is not equal. Paid 15.00 for rib dinner and later checked recent transactions and found I was charged an additional 3.00. When confronted the staff stated that she didn't have a copy of the signed receipt and had no idea how this charge was adjusted. Make sure you don't get over charged and check your statement. Stated she couldn't refund and that I would need to talk to the owner. Not even worth the drive or argument. Buyer be aware
